What is Tolerance. The word is everywhere these days. The Heads of State promotes tolerance, practice tolerance, religious groups, teachers in universities and classrooms around the world preaching the importance of religious and moral tolerance. Despite that it is the practice of preaching tolerance and the effect is the same: individuals and groups to achieve the same moral superiority to be tolerant. The concept of tolerance as a style of living is rooted in our culture: the history of the Old Testament, , intolerant Jonah illustrates the virtue of tolerance. Jonah blind belief that only Jews deserve God’s forgiveness leads him to defy the Lord and went to Niveveh and telling people to clean up their act; Jonah intolerance land him in the belly of a whale for three days, and therefore the next time the Lord told him to go to Niveveh it obeys. When people Niveveh to repent, Jonah is angry - he hoped that the wrath of God to destroy these pagans. The story of Jonah clearly illustrates the evils of intolerance.Instead for us to celebrate our differences, perhaps neutrality, tolerance allows us to focus on them. In addition, tolerance allows us to pass judgments on others, not only with insurance, but in public as if we have nothing to hide. The idea of tolerance legitimizes our prejudices, and thus destroys the real task of a truly democratic society: equality for all peoples, brotherhood and freedom.

We are all different from each other. We are all different. We perceive our head as the center of our own world - however big or small of May Why is an American born, or a Mexico, and not a Swiss or Siberia? What we have to do to be born in one place and not in another? None whatsoever, is not it! You have nothing to do with it. It just happened that you were born white, black, red, yellow or brown, as a Christian, Muslim or Jewish family, right? Think about it! So where do we learn that intolerance? Ask yourself? - I my case, I learned from my parents.

People of different faiths visited me during my life. Each presented their vision of the world and everyone wanted me to join their ranks. They show me their books, the words and promises they believe in. They call it the “Word of God.” They say that their priest says this or that. Some of my best friends were Jews and Muslims. Mohammed Al Tobaishi was a good friend of mine and I visited several times in Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. We traveled together, in Greece, England and Switzerland. Once we sat in a restaurant and he gave me a salt shaker: “Watch this” I could not see anything strange. Then he showed me the holes in the shape of the star David. He does not eat there. It would be the future son-in-law of King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. Is not it amazing what kind of people intolerant state of our world?

Are we witness of the beginning of a government campaign against British Muslims? We think not. May we be in danger of overreacting to a new environment caused by a constellation of factors, the UK and abroad - the crisis in the Middle East, the war in Iraq and the terrorists themselves incidents in name three. To take the first question first - the idea that universities should inform Special Branch of suspicious activities on campus, especially those of student Islamic societies. There is nothing new about this. In the 1950s, universities have been hotbeds of communist propaganda, as they gave birth to Trotskyist groups in the 1960s and 1970s, some of whose members are now in government. Special Branch has always had an interest for young radicals, but many would argue that it is losing time because they are from their student activism. We believe that men and women should be allowed to wear what they want within the limits of decency. Muslims have a strong sense of cultural identity that has been reinforced by recent events in the Middle East. Young Muslims who are undoubtedly saying that the identity of our days more vigorously. If more young women want to wear the veil, therefore, so be it. The majority community has not objected to sail in the past, so why are we now an objection? No wonder that some British Muslims feel they are witnessing a campaign against Muslims. In any event, the evidence so far is that the terrorists were British Muslims in large part by the radicalization of people they met in the mosques rather than the universities - although the cast of characters overlap in May . The question is whether universities should be used as instruments of the state’s security apparatus, especially that their role is to promote open discussion and knowledge. The answer must be negative.
